Like it’s larger cousin, Phanom Rung, Prasat Muang Tam is a Hindu religious monument and was constructed some 1,000 years ago for the Hindu god Shiva.
It fell into disrepair and was abandoned for 700 years but in 1997 the Fine Arts Department commenced its reconstruction. The atmosphere is different to Phanom Rung and the ponds especially create a more calming, soothing environment.
